Eight years ago today, tragedy struck our sisters and brothers at G4S. While performing a routine cash service at the University of Alberta’s HUB Mall, Travis Baumgartner fatally shot three of his coworkers, Eddie Rejano, Brian Ilesic and Michelle Shegelski. A fourth, Matthew Schuman, was rushed to hospital with gunshot wounds to the head.

Sadly, we received the news yesterday that Brother Jasvinder Riar, while at work as a Yard Conductor in Thornton Yard in the Greater Vancouver Terminal, was fatally injured in the performance of his duties.

We learned with regret and sadness that Brother Val Neal passed away from COVID-19 a few days ago.

April 28 is the National Day of Mourning, a day to remember those who died, or were injured or made ill, from their work. It is also a day people are asked to recommit to improving health and safety and preventing tragedies in the workplace.

From all of us at Teamsters Local Union 230, it is with a heavy heart that I regret to inform you that our Brother Marco Posca has suddenly passed away.

I am saddened to report that two of our members have died of COVID-19 this week.

The drivers’ names were Dennis Kehler and Daniel Kepner. They had been working at company for 28 and 5 years respectively. Both were members of Teamsters Local Union 776.

A Canadian Pacific Railway (CP) locomotive engineer died last night in an accident at the company’s rail yard in Port Coquitlam, BC. This is the tenth member of the Teamsters Canada Rail Conference (TCRC) to die on the job in 24 months.

It is with great sadness that I must inform you of the passing of TCRC Brother Imraan Qamar. Tragically, Brother Qamar was fatally injured in the line of duty at CN MacMillan Yard in Toronto on Thursday August 15, 2019 at approximately 0200 hours...

It's with sadness that the Teamsters Union learned that a pioneer of our union in Québec, Pierre Deschamps, passed away.
