Sisters and brothers,

As you might have imagined, the COVID-19 pandemic has significantly disrupted planned negotiations with UPS Canada.

The first three weeks of bargaining, which were set to take place in April and May, have been cancelled. Negotiations such as these, which require travel within Canada and large meetings with management and union representatives, cannot be safely held at this time.

Our national correlation meetings, where proposals from local unions are “correlated” to form one coherent set of demands, are being held by videoconference. These meetings were originally planned for March but were cancelled due to public health lockdowns.

Our collective agreement with UPS Canada expires on July 31, 2020. It will remain in force under the conditions set out in the Canada Labour Code even if negotiations are not completed by then.

Please stay tuned for further updates on when, and how, these negotiations will proceed.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your local union.

In solidarity,

Richard Eichel, Director, Parcel Division, Teamsters Canada
François Laporte, President, Teamsters Canada
