The Teamsters welcome the federal government's announcement that it is adjusting the pandemic support programs for workers. During the press conference with Prime Minister Trudeau and Deputy Prime Minister Freeland, we learned that the program will be extended to workers who are still suffering the full impact of the pandemic, particularly in the hotel and restaurant sector.

Zero Tolerance for Violence Against Women
One out of every four violent crimes reported to the police is a case of domestic violence, according to Statistics Canada. Women's Shelter Canada indicated in its most recent report that of the 550 shelters it supports, 59% reported a decrease in calls at the beginning of the pandemic.
