Laval, July 2nd, 2020 — On July 1, Remtec workers in Chambly ratified a new employment contract with their employer.

This collective agreement includes a salary increase of 2.25% for one year and an improvement to the pension plan.

The parties agreed that with the instability of the market in the tank truck manufacturing sector and the situation related to COVID-19, it was preferable to have a short-term contract and to restart negotiations next fall.

The previous collective agreement had expired on February 28.

About 92 % of the 40 members affiliated with Teamsters Local Union 1791 who were present at the meeting voted in favor of the agreement.

“I would like to congratulate the union committee composed of Brothers Pacifique Varin, Éric Godin and Jean-François Fortier for their good work,” explained Michel Richard, secretary-treasurer of Teamsters Local Union 1791. “They made a wise decision in proposing a short-term agreement and to return to the bargaining table this fall.,”

The Teamsters Union represents the interests of 125,000 members in Canada. They are affiliated with the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, which has 1.4 million members in North America.
