People are talking a lot about all the work being done to keep our country running and well-stocked, but there are still so many unsung heroes. So we wanted to take an opportunity to specifically thank warehouse workers for everything they have been doing during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The work being done by members of the Teamsters Canada Warehouse Division during these unprecedented times is something to be proud of.
Know that the health, safety and well-being of everyone is our union’s top priority during this crisis.
We have been in touch with employers, looking at the best way to collectively move forward together. In some case, extra pay and recognition as heroic essential workers goes a long way. It also shows that while working 10- and 12-hour days, you are not forgotten.
The national president of Teamsters Canada, François Laporte, and the director of the Teamsters Canada Warehouse Division, Jason Sweet, are not backing down. Moreover, know that 125,000 of your Teamster sisters and brothers across the country are behind you.
Have faith in your business agents and union reps. They are very experienced and highly trained people who are focused on your safety.
Whether it is by rail, truck or fork all the way to the shelves of your local grocery store, Teamster members are on the forefront making sure our Canadian communities have the goods most of us take for granted.
We are all in this together, and Teamsters Canada thanks you for your amazing work.
