Laval, July 9, 2019 — Workers at Kingsway Bulk voted to ratify a new 5-year collective agreement yesterday. Some 80% of members approved the new contract, which will provide rate-paid drivers a 2% rate increase per year. Hourly drivers will receive a salary adjustment the first year, as well as a 2% increase in subsequent years.

Kingsway Bulk workers, who are represented by Teamsters Local Union 931, will also save 12% on their group insurance costs.

“Congratulations to Brother Alain Coursol, and to Kingsway Bulk workers on this great contract,” said Local Union 931 President, Richard Lamoureux. We are stronger together, and when we all work as a team, we can definitely improve our working conditions.”

Kingsway Bulk is a trucking company that transports molasses, flour and oil, among others. The previous collective agreement ended on June 30.

Teamsters represent 125,000 members in Canada, in all industries. In Quebec, Teamsters represent over 35,000 workers, including 5,500 in the trucking industry. The International Brotherhood of Teamsters, with which Teamsters Canada is affiliated, represents 1.4 million workers in North America.
