Vancouver, Augut 26, 2015 — Teamsters Local Union No.31 has organized Seaville Transport Logistics Ltd. workers, a unit that contains a total of 25 company and dependent owner-operator drivers. Seaville performs container work from Port Metro Vancouver, transporting to companies throughout Vancouver and the Fraser Valley.

The drivers were seeking to improve their working conditions for some time and they chose the most powerful union in North America.

The Canada Industrial Relations Board (CIRB) certified the Teamsters on August 7, 2015.

“Thanks to Stan Hennessy’s knowledge and leadership within the Port sector of trucking, Local Union 31 has achieved an organizing victory,” remarked the Director of Organizing, Ben Hennessy.

Business Representative Grant Coleman has been assigned by Stan Hennessy to negotiate Seaville’s first collective agreement.

“Our bargaining unit is tough and determined to achieve a Teamsters Port agreement that will improve the lives of of all drivers and their families,” said Business Representative Grant Coleman.

The Port trucking company is located on Annacis Island, Delta, British Columbia.

The Teamsters represents 120 000 members in Canada in all industries. The International Brotherhood of Teamsters, with which Teamsters Canada is affiliated, has 1.4 million members in North America.
