As usual, the General Secretary-Treasurer of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBT), C. Thomas Keegel, delivered a fiery speech about the relevance of unionism and the necessity of rebuilding the middle class.

The union Leader made sure to underline what an important role the dynamic energy of Teamsters Canada’s officers played in the lives of the country’s workers.

“You are the leaders. You give me the strength and energy to continue,” he explained.

According to the Secretary-Treasurer, North American workers are being called to take up unprecedented challenges to keep what they have acquired. He deems that the middle class is threatened by the greed of CEOs and managers.

“They line their own pockets while moving thousands of jobs out of the United States and Canada. It’s unacceptable!” he thundered.

The General Secretary-Treasurer pointed out to the delegates that Teamsters Canada’s membership had grown considerably over the past few years.

“We have lessons to learn from your good work,” he added.
