The Teamsters Union will represent employees working for LRL, Boisvert, Bergeron and Lacasse, all companies that specialize in woodchips transport in the Abitibi-Temiscaminque region.
The Teamsters organizing campaign in this Quebec region lasted several months and required the help of several workers. Richard Chartier, Union Organizer for Teamsters Canada was coordinating the campaign.
“The result of the vote is proof, once again, that the Teamsters Union is the only union for employees in the trucking industry. We have obtained 60% of the votes, which is huge, and it’s only the beginning” said Richard Chartier. “I would like to sincerely thank all the workers who have exercised their vote”.
The results of the vote were as follows: 113 for the Teamsters – 76 for the other union.
