Laval, November 2, 2021 – A strike will be launched at Autobus Rive-Sud, Division Sainte-Julie (a subsidiary of SOGESCO) on November 4, unless a last-minute agreement is reached between Teamsters Local Union 106 and the employer.

Between 1,500 and 2,000 students at the Patriotes School Service Center could be without school transportation if there is a strike. Several elementary and high schools would be affected, including du Moulin, Des Quatre-Vents, Arc-en-Ciel, Saint-Paul, Trinity and Durocher.

The parents of these students must therefore expect a service disruption.

The employer wants a work contract whose duration and increases are deemed insufficient by our 20 members.

In fact, our members feel that the Autobus Rive-Sud is using the retention bonus of $2,000 per year paid by the Legault government in recent months to recruit and retain workers in this industry as a wage increase. We believe that this bonus, which will not be recurring beyond 2024-2025, cannot be considered a wage increase.

The Teamsters Union represents 125,000 members in Canada. They are affiliated with the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, which has 1.4 million members in North America.
