As we celebrate International Women’s Day, let’s proudly recognize the invaluable contributions and leadership of women across our union. Together, Teamsters women have fought and won countless battles, stepping up and claiming the space they rightfully deserve.
But even as we celebrate our victories, we can’t afford to let our guard down. Discrimination, inequality, and above all, violence against women is still rampant and growing. The disturbing rise of misogynistic influencers spreading toxic ideas, coupled with a troubling global political climate, threatens hard earned women’s rights everywhere. These regressive forces hit hardest in male-dominated sectors where women are still fighting to break barriers, but they’re creeping into every workplace we represent.
Today, let’s recommit ourselves to action, not just words. Teamsters Canada will keep fighting fiercely for our members, standing strong against violence, discrimination, and harassment on behalf of all members.
Brothers and sisters, this is our fight. Together, let’s keep moving forward, united, vigilant, and unstoppable, until every woman can live, work, and thrive free from violence and discrimination.
