Calgary, May 19, 2020 — Remember the 35 tons of food delivered to a food bank in Wood Buffalo, which was flooded in April? Well, the Local Union 362 truck that made this essential delivery was stolen about 10 days ago! The only thing the thieves left behind was the trailer!
Despite this misfortune, Teamsters Canada stepped up once again to help the people of Fort McMurray by delivering more food. They rented another truck and Brother Stacy Tulp, Organizer for Teamsters Local Union 362 in Alberta, will be delivering another 40,000-pound load of food to the food bank.
The truck belonging to Local Union 362 was found in Saskatoon, in the parking lot of a shopping centre, and it will be on the road again very soon.
As always, Teamsters Canada continues to be actively involved with communities in need from one end of the country to the other, while representing its 125,000 members from Victoria, B.C. to St. John’s, Newfoundland!
Teamsters and solidarity go hand in hand!
Teamsters Canada is encouraging all Canadians to help their local charities by either giving donations or volunteering their time to help fight the insecurity and vulnerability caused by the pandemic.
The Teamsters Union represents the interests of 125,000 members in Canada. They are affiliated with the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, which has 1.4 million members in North America.
