Ottawa, September 7, 2017 – The Teamsters Canada Rail Conference (TCRC), which represents the running trade employees at Canadian Pacific, has agreed to a tentative one year agreement with company, subject to ratification by the membership.

The one-year agreement includes some improvements to the working conditions for the membership. The agreement further provides an opportunity to address issues with scheduling, fatigue and the current backlog of disputes between the parties.

Fatigue countermeasures are critical to a safe operating environment and the TCRC is optimistic that, by applying the best available science in accordance with our guiding principles on fatigue management, we can improve safety and the quality of life for our membership.

Further details of the tentative agreement will not be released until the members have had a chance to review the document.

The tentative agreement affects approximately 3200 locomotive engineers, conductors, trainmen and yardmen at CP across the country.

Teamsters represent 125,000 members in Canada in all industries, including 12,000 workers in the rail industry. The International Brotherhood of Teamsters, with which Teamsters Canada is affiliated, has 1.4 million members in North America.
