Teamsters Canada is covering the third round of talks to renegotiate the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) in Ottawa. Check out some of the recent coverage:

“We think the Canadian proposal on labour is a solid document … that can increase working conditions for middle-class families in both Canada and the United States and, of course, Mexico quite substantially,” said Christopher Monette, public affairs director for Teamsters Canada.

“We’re facing an exodus of jobs to Mexico but also to right to work states in the United States. And that should be just as concerning to Canadians.”

Another Canadian labor group called on the U.S. team to treat Canada’s labor proposals more seriously, saying there are reports the U.S. isn’t relaying Canada’s proposals to its stakeholders.

“The Canadian government is not kidding around in terms of their labor proposals. This is strong stuff,” Christopher Monette, director of public affairs for the Teamsters Canada union, told reporters Sunday. “We think it needs to be taken more seriously by U.S. negotiators.”
