Depression and anxiety are two of the most common mental health disorders in Canada, and yet there is still stigma that surrounds talking about them.

People experiencing depression suffer from feelings of hopelessness, loss of pleasure in usually enjoyed activities, sleep disturbances and even thoughts of death.

Those who are living with an anxiety disorder can experience intense fear, irrational thoughts and avoidance.

Not only can these two disorders affect your mental well-being, they can also lead to intense physical symptoms.

Living with both the mental and physical symptoms of these illnesses affects a person’s life at home, at school, and of course, in the workplace.

In this episode, we look at what it is like to live with depression and anxiety, and how sharing stories about dealing with the disorder can have a huge impact on reducing stigma.

There are a number of resources available across Canada when it comes to depression and anxiety – it is about letting people know they are there and how to access them.

Help us spread the word by sharing our videos on social media, tweeting and emailing politicians and policy makers and letting other Canadians know that together, we can make a change when it comes to mental health.

If we make enough noise, they have to listen.

Help us make mental health support mandatory! #MakeItMandatory.
