On September 20, Canadian members participated in their very own workshop during this year’s International Brotherhood of Teamsters Women’s Conference.
More than 75 women Teamsters held discussions, laughed and worked on issues that concern them in the workplace such as the duty to accommodate family status, rules governing the use of a work computer for personal purposes, limits to freedom of expression on Facebook, psychological and sexual harassment, and so on. Our union legal representatives, Joanne McMahon, Marie-France Veilleux, Karin Linnebach and Brigitte Sottile, all had as much fun preparing and hosting the workshop as members had taking part.
It is important for Canadian women to join together and share their common concerns—it gives everyone a boost!
Thanks to all participants. See you next year!
