Brothers and Sisters,

On September 18 2011, Canadian Pacific held their annual spike driving competition in Minnesota. Our local lodge 211 in Southern Ontario was represented at this competition by Natasha Gray in the Women’s competition and Jacob Cooke in the Men’s competition.  And represented well we were!

Natasha, a Group 1 Tie Crane operator on the Southern Ontario Low Density Tie crew, placed first in the women’s competition and in the process gave Southern Ontario our first system wide win in recent history.

Natasha is a native of Mountain Grove, Ontario that tells me that the trip was an excellent time and that more people should have the opportunity to go on trips like this at the company’s expense!

Jacob Cooke also did an excellent job in Minnesota, placing second in the men’s competition.  Jacob is a Group 1 Ten Ton driver from the Belleville, Ontario area and is hoping that next year he can take first place!

I am proud to be able to applaud our lodge members in their accomplishments and thank them for helping to show our Teamsters strength!

In Solidarity,

Wade Phillips
Local Chairman
