We are saddened to announce the passing of Brother Alain de Grandpré, former president of Teamsters Quebec Joint Council 91, secretary-treasurer of Local Union 931, vice-president of the Québec Federation of Labour, and Fonds de solidarité FTQ board member.

“Alain was a friend and colleague of mine for many years. I am saddened by his passing. On behalf of myself and the 125,000 members of Teamsters Canada, I would like to offer my sincerest condolences to his family and loved ones,” said the president of Teamsters Canada, François Laporte.

Brother de Grandpré started as a warehouse worker and became a trustee on Local Union 931’s executive board. He was then hired as a business agent for his local in 1982. He rose to become his local’s recording secretary in 1986 and later served as secretary-treasurer from 1992 until his retirement in 2013. He served as secretary-treasurer under three local presidents: Pierre Deschamps, Richard Charruau, and Gerry Boutin.

At the national level, Brother de Grandpré was also a trustee and later a member of the Teamsters Canada National Executive Board. He also held the position of National Representative.
