First Student School Bus drivers and mechanics who transport children attending Airdrie and rural locations have voted to join General Teamsters, Local Union No. 362 in Calgary.
The 160 school bus workers and mechanics working out of First Student yards in Airdrie, Chestermere, Strathmore and rural locations joined the Union seeking respect, fair pay and dignity at work.
The Teamsters “Drive Up Standards” campaign is a North America campaign to improve safety, service and work standards in the private school bus and transit industry. Since the campaign began in 2006 more than 38,000 drivers, monitors, aides, attendants and mechanics have become Teamsters.
