Vancouver, January 9, 2015 — R&B Trucking’s 66 workers have chosen to join Teamsters Local Union 31, which will represent the following trades: warehousemen, drivers, owner-operators, dispatchers and office workers and clerks.
“I would like to commend these workers for their courage and determination,” said Stan Hennessy, President of Teamsters Local Union 31. “Together, we’re going to build a better future for them and their families.”
Meetings will be held with the workers in the weeks ahead in order to form a bargaining committee and to formulate the demands the union will put forth when negotiating the first collective agreement. Teamsters Local Union 31 Business Agent, Tom Brown, will be in charge of this file.
The company is located in Victoria, Lantzville and Campbell River in British Columbia.
The Teamsters represents 115,000 members in Canada in all trades. The International Brotherhood of Teamsters, with which Teamsters Canada is affiliated, has 1.4 million members in North America.
