The All Party Party is an annual thank you to Hill Staffers thrown by Members of Parliament and Senators. This event was hosted by Mr. Peter Stoffer, NDP MP Sackville–Eastern Shore, Nova Scotia, and about 1,000 Hill staffers, MPs and Senators dropped by during the evening. Phil Benson, Lobbyist Teamsters Canada, and André Papineau, President Local 91, attended on behalf of Teamsters Canada. The event is a great opportunity to reinforce Teamsters Canada’s presence on the Hill, which will assist us in pushing forward our legislative agenda.

Thanks to the generous contributions of Locals 69, 91, 106, 141, 213, 130, 362, 419, 855, 879, 938, the Construction Council of Ontario, the Rail Conference and the Freight and Tank Haul Division there were sufficient Teamster jackets, shirts, hats and pins that hundreds of staffers went home with a gift. By the end of the night it looked like a Teamster’s convention. Mr. Stoffer is an avid collector of hats, and a highlight was his wearing of a Rail Conference hat for the entire evening. You just can’t buy that kind of promotion.

A major part of our lobbying effort is being present on the Hill. Thanks to Teamsters Canada its Divisions and Locals our efforts at this event were a big hit and advanced our agenda. So far we have received a big thank you from staffers from the Hill, News World and MPs, and it has led to invitations to other events and meetings. Participation in this even had an impact that will extend beyond one night.
