Youth Committee

Youth account for a significant percentage of Teamsters members and represent a powerful resource for the union.

The Youth Committee’s mandate is, among other things, to provide a voice for young members, advise Teamsters Canada on matters of interest to young members and support Teamsters Canada in its activities. It also aims to unite young members of different Local Unions through local, regional, provincial, and national networks.

We know that active participation of young members gives us more leverage at the bargaining table, during organizing campaigns, and in the political arena.

Virtual Lobby Day 2021

Our youth committee held a virtual lobby day on March 29, 2021, meeting with Transport Minister Omar Alghabra, Labour Minister Filomena Tassi, NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh and MP Peter Julian. Issues discussed included our perspective on the route towards a healthy economic recovery for young workers as well as health and safety issues like fatigue for road and rail workers.

Take Charge

Teamsters Canada believes that our workers have a right to grow financially and progress in their careers. Teamsters Canada allows our members to enjoy a better quality of life.

Make it Mandatory

With this initiative we want to raise awareness about mental health in the workplace, educate people on what youth mental illness looks like in Canada and let them know they are not alone.
