Dear Brothers and Sisters,

It is with sadness that we learn of the death of Ron Douglas, who was Director of Research of the Canadian Conference of Teamsters during the period when Senator Edward Lawson was the Canadian Director of our Union, then Executive Director of Louis Lacroix and Robert Bouvier, presidents of Teamsters Canada until 2015.

Ron passed away at the age of 78 from cancer.

Ron will be remembered as one of the architects behind the creation of Teamsters Canada. In fact, he was an important part of our Union for over 40 years.

Brother Douglas began his career as a teacher at the University of British Columbia in the 60s.

I would like to extend my condolences to his wife Shireen and his family and friends.

François Laporte
President of Teamsters Canada
Vice President of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters
