Investing in our members is our way forward! Over the past few weeks, locals across British Columbia have been actively engaged with the Teamsters Canada Education Program. These sessions provided valuable training designed to strengthen and support our shop stewards in a variety of workplaces. 💪📚

In Kelowna, Local 213 brought together over 35 stewards for a full day of workshops focused on communication skills, Canadian Labour History, Generations at Work, and Alternative Dispute Resolution. Principal Officer Tony Santavenere and his team were present and fully involved.

In Vancouver, Local 155 welcomed a group of security guards and captains for a training session led by Darrin Pearson. This was followed by a collaborative workshop to develop a new training program tailored to the needs of the film industry for Security Guards and Captains, with participation from Business Agents from Locals 155 and 362.

Local 155 also hosted a powerful workshop on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. The event was organized by the Women’s Caucus and welcomed more than 35 participants, with strong support from Principal Officer David Holm.

In Langley, Local 464 held two days of training for more than 30 stewards. Participants took part in courses from the Teamsters Canada Education Program, including Heart of the Union, Investigation to Arbitration, and Duty to Accommodate. The event was opened and supported by Principal Officer Paul Barton and his team.

Each of these sessions shows that when locals invest in steward education, they are investing in the strength and future of our union. 🚛🔥

A big thank you to Sister Jamie Donnelly, Director of Education at Teamsters Canada, for her dedication and support in assisting locals throughout these training sessions, and to Mariam Abou-Dib, our Executive Director, for giving the Duty to Accommodate presentation in Langley.
