This morning, hundreds of Air Canada flight attendants rallied in the rain outside the company’s headquarters near Montréal’s airport.
Teamsters Canada National President François Laporte joined them to reaffirm that the 135,000 members of our union across the country stand firmly by their side.
“What we are seeing is a dangerous pattern… Companies don’t want to negotiate anymore. They antagonize unions, create bogus labour disputes, and then wait for a government to intervene in their favour. This has to stop, and the Teamsters are leading the fight to make it stop.”
The federal government’s intervention in this dispute is no more justifiable than it was during last year’s CN and CPKC lockout. We are challenging the unconstitutional laws Ottawa continues to rely on, and we stand with every worker whose right to strike has been attacked.
