{"id":2696,"date":"2008-10-30T09:37:00","date_gmt":"2008-10-30T13:37:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/teamsters.ca\/2008\/10\/le-cp-poursuit-sur-sa-pente-descendante\/"},"modified":"2019-06-27T20:39:51","modified_gmt":"2019-06-27T20:39:51","slug":"le-cp-poursuit-sur-sa-pente-descendante","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/teamsters.ca\/fr\/blog\/2008\/10\/30\/le-cp-poursuit-sur-sa-pente-descendante\/","title":{"rendered":"Le CP poursuit sur sa pente descendante"},"content":{"rendered":"<div align=\"justify\"><strong>Le fl&eacute;chissement du volume force le CP &agrave; revoir ses pr&eacute;visions &agrave; la baisse<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Scott Deveau<br \/>Service de nouvelles Canwest<\/div>\n<div align=\"justify\">Le mercredi 29 octobre 2008<\/div>\n<div align=\"justify\">TORONTO &ndash; Au quatri&egrave;me trimestre, les volumes devraient continuer de fl&eacute;chir nonobstant l&rsquo;apport de la d&eacute;pr&eacute;ciation du dollar et de la baisse du prix du carburant pour le Chemin de fer Canadien Pacifique, selon l&rsquo;annonce faite par la direction hier.<\/div>\n<div align=\"justify\">On s&rsquo;attend &agrave; une baisse des volumes transport&eacute;s par rail au cours des trois derniers mois de l&rsquo;ann&eacute;e, en raison du ralentissement de l&rsquo;&eacute;conomie nord-am&eacute;ricaine et, en particulier, de la gr&egrave;ve qui perdure du c&ocirc;t&eacute; de Potash Corp. en Saskatchewan.<\/div>\n<div align=\"justify\">Cette baisse des volumes devrait compenser en bonne partie l&rsquo;augmentation du suppl&eacute;ment carburant &ndash; dont le prix est presque toujours fix&eacute; avec un d&eacute;lai de deux mois &ndash; vu que le prix du diesel a depuis fl&eacute;chi.<\/div>\n<div align=\"justify\">&laquo; Nous ne comptons pas composer avec la situation comme d&rsquo;autres risquent de le faire au quatri&egrave;me trimestre, d&rsquo;expliquer Fred Green, pr&eacute;sident et chef de la direction du CP. D&rsquo;ici la fin de l&rsquo;ann&eacute;e, nous aurons r&eacute;tabli des r&egrave;gles du jeu &eacute;quitables. &raquo;<\/div>\n<div align=\"justify\">La nouvelle survient alors que le deuxi&egrave;me chemin de fer canadien en importance annonce une baisse de 21 % de ses profits au troisi&egrave;me trimestre, apr&egrave;s l&rsquo;inscription d&rsquo;une charge de 28 millions $ sur ses investissements en papier commercial adoss&eacute; &agrave; des actifs. Ainsi, le b&eacute;n&eacute;fice net du chemin de fer a baiss&eacute; &agrave; 173 millions $, ou 1,11 $ par action, comparativement &agrave; 1,41 $ par action l&rsquo;ann&eacute;e derni&egrave;re.<\/div>\n<div align=\"justify\">Bien que le chemin de fer ait d&eacute;pass&eacute; les pr&eacute;visions de Bay Street, le CP est devenu le seul chemin de fer principal en Am&eacute;rique du Nord &agrave; annoncer une baisse de son b&eacute;n&eacute;fice net au troisi&egrave;me trimestre. &Agrave; l&rsquo;oppos&eacute;, son principal rival int&eacute;rieur, la Compagnie des chemins de fer nationaux du Canada, a annonc&eacute; la semaine derni&egrave;re une augmentation de 14 % de ses r&eacute;sultats au troisi&egrave;me trimestre.<\/div>\n<div align=\"justify\">Cependant, le CP a r&eacute;it&eacute;r&eacute; sa perspective et sa pr&eacute;vision que le r&eacute;sultat dilu&eacute; par action ajust&eacute; demeurera entre 4,00 $ et 4,20 $ &ndash; en baisse de 2 % &agrave; 8 % par rapport &agrave; l&rsquo;ann&eacute;e pr&eacute;c&eacute;dente. Cette situation est en bonne partie attribuable au maintien du pouvoir de fixation des prix du chemin de fer, ayant permis d&rsquo;augmenter les recettes g&eacute;n&eacute;r&eacute;es par le transport de marchandises de 8 % au cours du dernier trimestre, et ce, en d&eacute;pit de la baisse des volumes transport&eacute;s. Chaque secteur a r&eacute;alis&eacute; des gains &agrave; l&rsquo;exception du transport de c&eacute;r&eacute;ales, en raison d&rsquo;une r&eacute;colte tardive. La direction pr&eacute;voit une augmentation des recettes de l&rsquo;ordre de 4-6 % cette ann&eacute;e, l&eacute;g&egrave;rement en baisse par rapport &agrave; la pr&eacute;vision pr&eacute;c&eacute;dente de 6-8 %.<\/div>\n<div align=\"justify\">De plus, le programme d&rsquo;efficacit&eacute; r&eacute;cemment mis en &oelig;uvre ne semble pas encore produire des r&eacute;sultats, puisque le ratio d&rsquo;exploitation du chemin de fer &ndash; qui repr&eacute;sente une importante mesure de sa rentabilit&eacute; (quotient des charges d&rsquo;exploitation par les produits d&rsquo;exploitation) &ndash; est en baisse de 3,1 points de pourcentage par rapport au trimestre pr&eacute;c&eacute;dent pour s&rsquo;&eacute;tablir &agrave; 76 %.<\/div>\n<div
