Railroad<\/p>\n<p><strong>Une nouvelle chance pour am&eacute;liorer le sort du chemin de fer secondaire Northeastern Ontario<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>R&eacute;dig&eacute; par le personnel du Northern Ontario Business<\/p>\n<p>Le Chemin de fer du Canadien Pacifique (CFCP) et Rail America Inc. ont conclu un nouvel accord d&rsquo;exploitation pour maintenir les op&eacute;rations, dans l&rsquo;avenir pr&eacute;visible, d&rsquo;une plus petite section d&rsquo;un chemin de fer secondaire en p&eacute;ril dans le nord-est de l&rsquo;Ontario.<\/p>\n<p>Les deux transporteurs ont annonc&eacute; le 4 octobre qu&rsquo;ils avaient conclu une entente &agrave; long terme qui leur permet de continuer d&rsquo;exploiter une section de la voie d&rsquo;une longueur de 253 kilom&egrave;tres entre Sudbury et Mattawa, connue sous le nom de l&rsquo;Ottawa Valley Railway (OVR) et l&rsquo;inclusion d&rsquo;une ligne d&rsquo;embranchement en direction de l&rsquo;ouest du Qu&eacute;bec.<\/p>\n<p>Le nouvel accord s&rsquo;&eacute;tend sur cinq ans avec une option pour la prorogation du d&eacute;lai initial.<\/p>\n<p>Ce sont des bonnes nouvelles pour les communaut&eacute;s qui longent la voie comme Sturgeon Falls et North Bay et pour&nbsp; le transporteur le plus grand de l&rsquo;OVR, Tembec, le colosse de l&rsquo;industrie foresti&egrave;re qui transporte des marchandises en provenance de son usine de p&acirc;tes et papier &agrave; T&eacute;miscamingue, Qu&eacute;. jusqu&rsquo;&agrave; destination des march&eacute;s.<\/p>\n<p>Le Canadien Pacifique est propri&eacute;taire d&rsquo;une plus grande section de voie d&rsquo;une longueur de 550 kilom&egrave;tres entre Sudbury et Smith Falls dans l&rsquo;est de l&rsquo;Ontario.&nbsp; Il louait la voie &agrave; Rail America, un transporteur qui si&egrave;ge en Floride &agrave; Jacksonville qui utilise une petite filiale, Rail Link, pour subvenir aux besoins en puissance locomotive des clients dans l&rsquo;industrie qui longent la voie.<\/p>\n<p>En 2009, quelques mois suite &agrave; l&rsquo;annonce du CP qu&rsquo;il &eacute;liminerait du OVR le transport des marchandises &agrave; travers le Canada vers l&rsquo;est et qu&rsquo;il allait le r&eacute;acheminer par le sud de l&rsquo;Ontario, Rail America annon&ccedil;ait la r&eacute;siliation de son bail avec le CP.<\/p>\n<p>A part de Tembec, il n&rsquo;y avait pas assez d&rsquo;activit&eacute; commerciale locale pour soutenir la viabilit&eacute; des op&eacute;rations.&nbsp; Rail America commen&ccedil;a par interrompre la desserte sur la section de la voie la plus &agrave; l&rsquo;est entre Smiths Falls et Camspur (pr&egrave;s de Petawawa) mais a maintenu le service sur la section de Sudbury &agrave; Mattawa jusqu&rsquo;&agrave; ce que le CP ait pu trouver un nouvel exploitant du chemin de fer secondaire.&nbsp; Cet&nbsp; exploitant semble &ecirc;tre le Rail America-Rail Link.<\/p>\n<p>Rail America Inc. est propri&eacute;taire et exploitant de chemins de fer secondaires et de chemins de fer r&eacute;gionaux transportant des marchandises &agrave; travers l&rsquo;Am&eacute;rique du Nord.<\/p>\n<p>&lsquo;Nous sommes fiers de pouvoir garder ce chemin de fer dans notre portefeuille et de maintenir nos relations avec le CP dans le cadre de cette nouvelle entente sur l&rsquo;exploitation&rsquo; d&eacute;clarait le PDG John Giles de Rail America.&nbsp; &lsquo;Les op&eacute;rations courantes restent int&eacute;ressantes autant pour nous que pour le CP.&nbsp; Nous anticipons une relation &agrave; long terme tr&egrave;s productive avec le CP et les
