In September 2015, Teamsters Canada launched a national social media campaign entitled Make it Mandatory to convince federal elected officials to make mental health awareness and support in the workplace mandatory.

The COVID-19 pandemic has significantly changed our lives. This terrible ordeal requires us to adapt quickly to something out of the ordinary. Who would have thought a couple of years ago that we would ever face such a global crisis?

With the arrival of Fall and its colder temperatures, the hours of sunshine are decreasing and we are becoming more and more isolated in our homes. As a result, anxiety and distress related to the coronavirus are getting to us.

It is normal to feel lonelier, more depressed, anxious or even in some cases distressed. But we should not hesitate to ask for help, whether from family, friends or health care professionals.

Having mental health problems is not a sign of weakness or failure. It simply means that we need support and that we should not hesitate to seek it where it is available.

If you feel you are in difficulty, know that resources exist and that they are ready to help and guide you. To find these resources in your area dial 2-1-1.
