Another Brother lost...

Brothers and Sisters,

It is with great sorrow that I have to pass on to you the news that Brother John (Robbie) Hackett, died yesterday morning in a motor vehicle accident outside Revelstoke, BC.

Robbie and his brother Derrick were headed to Calgary from Pacific Steel # 1, to drop Robbie off at the airport so that he could head home to Terranceville, NFLD and his wife Connie and family, as it was the end of his work season. They never made it.

Reports are sketchy at this point, but I've heard that there were severe weather conditions and their car was struck by another vehicle. Robbie died instantly and Derrick was taken to Revelstoke hospital injured, but alive.

Rosalind, Derrick's wife, has told me that he was treated and released from the hospital and was driven to Lethbridge, AB where she picked him up and brought him home to Medicine Hat.

This is a terrible tragedy and though words will be never be enough to take away this loss, please join me in offering our most sincere condolences to Connie, the Hackett family (many who work for CPR) and all of their friends and loved ones, in the hopes that this will offer some small easement. Also, please keep Derrick and Rosalind in your thoughts and prayers, with the hopes of a speedy recovery.

God bless you, Robbie. You left us far too soon. Rest in peace.
